A Snake and Rose
Words and music: j. scarpelli

I’ve gotta sit down and think about it
I get up and go
come back just to fall asleep
Cause I only have time to wonder about it
While the ghosts stick around
When I kindly ask them to leave

And the earth is a flower
the rose is in bloom
If I find out where it started it leads me to you
so why’s it so hard to keep on living alone?

When the rose came in, I thought they’d travel to dimensions
And see the pyramids, see the stairs to heaven…
I think about the snake and how it feeds on itself
And how mothers bear children who become mothers themselves

And the universe is a flower
The past is without end
But the rose has come to save me from what you called sin
and why’s it so hard to keep on living alone?
